AIMIT Management Development Center was invited by Tata Power, SED to conduct Fr. Oswald Mascarenhas’ Building Ethical and Moral Leadership program on their premises for a group of 30 managers. Fr. Oswal Mascarenhas is currently the Tata Chair Professor of Business Ethics at XLRI, Jamshedpur. This program was part of Tata Power, SED’s Ethics week celebration, organized annually to commemorate the birthday of Mr. J.N. Tata, the visionary founder of the Tata Group.

Fr. Oswald commenced the sessions with a brief outline of the lives of J.N. Tata and JRD Tata the founders of the Tata Group. He pointed out that their leadership consisted of conviction, integrity, selflessness, spirituality and connect with people which are the core aspects of charismatic leadership. He emphasized the need for charismatic leaders to effectively handle companies in the current turbulent markets. He connected the application of his LEMS framework of Legal, Ethical, Moral and Spiritual to charismatic leadership and brought in many examples of the lives of charismatic leaders past and present.

Fr.Oswald was assisted in the program by Rajendra Desai, Dean, MDC, AIMIT in conducting an interactive session for the participants to identify charismatic and non-charismatic leaders in their environment and to understand the reasons why they were effective or ineffective.

The program was well received by the 16 managers who attended the program at Tata Power, SED, Bangalore and the 14 managers who were connected from their Mumbai and Delhi offices through interactive video sessions.
