InfoVision2023, a national level intercollegiate IT & Science Fest for the UG students was held at AIMIT, St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University), Mangaluru on March 28. Cijo Paul, EngineeringLead,Unicourt, inaugurated the programme.

In his address, Mr Paul emphasised the importance of basic technological skills in the ITsector and the ability to write basic programmes. He reminisced his college days here at AIMIT and asked students to cultivate the habit of ‘building something small’ which will be beneficial to them in the long term.

In his presidential address, Director Dr(Fr) Melwyn Pinto SJ pointed out the increased opportunities in the IT sector after Covid. He made a reference to Moore’s law that states that‘Number of transistors on an integrated circuit doubles every twoyears’. “Though Moore’s Law has stood the test of time, the challenges in the IT sector in terms of job guarantee are only increasing,” he added.

About 26 teams registered from 16 different colleges across Dakshina Kannada, and Udupi.

The following were the events conducted:

  • 5 teams participated in the paper presentation event Expositio, headed by Mrs Vanita Kulsekhar and Mrs Annapoorna Shetty. The event was judged by DrJeevan Pinto and MrsAnnapoorna Shetty
  • In the website designing event Webify, 12 teams participated. The event was headed by Dr Santhosh B and MrAravinda Prabhu who also judged the event.
  • 13 teams participated in the Quiz competition, headed by Mr Roshan Suvares and MrsNausheda .
  • The coding event, Hugs and Bugs, had 13 teams. The event was coordinatedby Mr Srinivas BL and Mrs Suchetha Vijay. The event was judged by MrSrinivas BL
  • Two teams participated in the model making event Visualize, coordinated by DrHemalatha and MrsAnushree Raj who also judged the event.
  • The cultural event Entertain had 3 teams. The event was coordinated by DrRakesh Kumar, DrJeevan Pintoand DrRuban.It was judged by Dr Jeevan and MrRoshan Suvaris.

FrAlwyn D’Souza, campus minister was the chief guest at the valedictory programme. Winners were awarded cash prizes and mementos. Mrs Manimozhi and Ms Anushree Raj were the coordinators of InfoVision 2023.
