During the annual bird count exercise held for three days in February, 60 varieties of birds were cited at AIMIT campus of St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University). The bird count was conducted by a team from the Zoology department of SAC, led by Glavin Rodrigues, faculty member of the department.

Some of the birds cited include Ashy Drongo, Ashy Woodswallow, Asian Green Bee-eater, Baya Weaver, Black-headed Ibis, Great Egret, Eurasian Hoopoe, Rufous Treepie, White-throated Kingfisher, among others.

Among the birds cited, there were a few migratory birds such as Indian Golden Oriole, Blue-tailed Bee-eater, and Baya Weaver Bird. The campus has been declared eBird hotspot in 2022 with a count of 35 species. However, the total count has gone up to 63 species this year.
