Awareness on bioinformatics at University College

A session on ‘Insights on Bioinformatics’ was delivered by Anushree Raj from the Department of Bioinformatics & IT, AIMIT, St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University) at University Degree College, Mangalore on August 20, 2022 for the BSc students of chemistry, biology, zoology and microbiology branches. Dr Nagarathna K A, Assistant Professor, Department of Zoology welcomed and introduced the resource person to the gathering.

Altogether 53 students attended the session. The session focused on giving a brief introduction to bioinformatics, explaining its applications and scope. Also, the students were given an exposure to how research contributions in bioinformatics have helped mankind. A note on career guidance and opportunities in the field of bioinformatics was also given.
