The students of AIMIT hostels gathered together for a Christmas celebration on December 21. Office bearers under the guidance of the warden Sr Lisy Ann and sub-wardens put up a meaningful programme compered by Swezal Fernandes and Chrystal Fernandes. Rendition of Christmas carols and dance performances were the high points of the programme, while Santa Claus entertained the gathering with his lively presence and toffees. Archana PV and Preethika Fernandes won the consolation prizes and Sandra Sathish won the I prize in the lucky draw competition held on the occasion.

Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto SJ, Director of the hostels, in his Christmas message said that Christmas should not be reduced to only Santa Claus rather importance must to be given to the core of Christmas namely, ‘God or Divine is with us’. Highlighting the core ideals of Christmas he said, “Jesus was born in a manger in all humility and humanness and therefore Christmas calls us to be humble. Shepherds who were ordinary, simple and poor, were the chosen ones given the message of Jesus’ birth. They visited the crib with gratitude and therefore, Christmas invites all of us to cultivate the attitude of gratefulness in life.”

Winners of Christmas competitions held on December18 were awarded with cashprizes. Gonzaga hostel emerged as the champion, whereas Mother Teresa hostel was the first runner up and Loyola hostel the second runner up. The Director and the Warden of the hostels distributed the prizes.
