Dr Hemalatha N took charge as the new Dean (academics) of IT faculty through a virtual flatform here on May 10.

Speaking on the occasion, the outgoing dean Santhosh Rebello said that the journey of over 15 years as the dean of IT faculty was indeed a memorable experience. “I had the experience of working in several units of the Aloysius Institutions. That indeed helped me to grow as a leader,” he said. Recalling the principals and directors who had reposed trust in him, Mr Rebello said that he had received the support of everyone in the department.

Raising the toast for the occasion, Dr Ruban from the department hailed the outgoing dean Mr Rebello’s leadership to give a new orientation to the department. “Santhosh sir was very professional in his approach. He guided the department during difficult times and built rapport with all stakeholders. His humane approach towards everyone was indeed commendable,” he opined. He wished the new dean all the very best, commending her hard working and passionate disposition to academics.

Responding to the toast, the new dean Dr Hemalatha said that she was happy to be the new dean as the department had trusted her. “I require the cooperation of all, and it has to be a team work. I can only do what I am good at. For the rest I need the strong support of all of you,” she added.

Director Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto commended the leadership of Santhosh Rebello as the dean for over 15 years. “Santhosh has the ability to approach anyone and strike a conversation. He has indeed given a solid base to the IT department. He was one such leader who had a story and who was a story, as is wont of every good leader,” he said.

Wishing the new dean fruitful day ahead, Fr Pinto said that she was the right person to carry on the duty owing to her commitment to academics and research.

Laveena Crasta from the department compered the programme. All faculty members were present for the virtual handing over event.
