As part of the three-day faculty development programme, a one day programme on the theme ‘Jesuit ideals for education’ was held on October 27. The resource person was Dr (Fr) Joseph D’Mello SJ.

Fr D’Mello, assistant to the Jesuit provincial of Karnataka, spoke about the realm of spiritual insights, the Ignitian Pedagogical Paradigm (IPP), characteristics of Jesuit education, and learning teaching disorder. He also conducted various group activities for reflection and sharing.

Fr D’Mello said that one’s worth needs to be assessed from within and not because of external factors. “Where do I seek my happiness? Sometimes, I may look for happiness in the wrong place. I must seek happiness from within and not from external persons and factors,” he said.

He further added that the realm of the interior self is of utmost importance in dealing with oneself and with others, especially with others.

Fr D’Mello also dealt on the theme decision-making in daily life. “Some choices are life promoting and some are life destroying. We are all left with many choices in life and we must make them wisely,” he said.

Earlier, Fr Alwyn Ronald D’Souza led the prayer. Director Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto SJ made introductory remarks. Dr Ruban proposed vote of thanks.
