A certificate course in ‘Web Content Design using HTML, CSS and Java Script’ was organised by the PG Information Technology department of AIMIT from June 21 to 25, 2021. This course was organised for BSc – computer science and BCA students to introduce them to web content designing.

The staff coordinators for this course Suchetha Vijayakumar and Dr Ruban S hosted the course on Zoom platform from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m. on all days. The resource persons for the informative sessions were Thomas C G, asst. professor, Dept of MCA, Sanjana J, Stuart Olivera, Prajwal Kumar Shetty, Shashwath K Nath and Chaithra Krishna, II semester students of MSc- Software Technology.

The course was formally inaugurated on the first day by Director, Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto SJ, AIMIT. Dr Ruban S welcomed the participants and also gave an insight into how the course would be handled in five days. The resource person Thomas C G briefed the participants about ‘Introduction to Web designing and basic concepts involved’.  

The next day Sanjana explained ‘HTML Formatting Tags’ and Stuart spoke about ‘HTML Form Tags’. The session involved a live demo of various HTML tags and their applications.

On the third day Prajwal Kumar Shetty and Shashwath K Nath took the session with a live demo of the concept of delivery ‘Styling a form using CSS’.

The fourth day’s topic was ‘Basic concepts in Java Script and form validation’ conducted by Chaithra Krishna. This session involved demo and hands-on sessions.

The final day’s session was handled by Thomas C G on the topic ‘PHP– server side scripting’. Dr Hemalatha N, Dean (academics), IT gave the concluding remarks and also briefed the participants about the college and courses at AIMIT.

180 students from around 18 colleges attended the course and the participants were given e-certificate of participation; all the material and code discussed during these five days and answers to all their questions were posted on the department portal. The valuable feedback of each session given by the participants was also recorded.
