On May 24, 2025, the MBA Department of AIMIT, St Aloysius Deemed to be University, organized an insightful session led by renowned environmentalist Dr. Smitha Hegde. The event, part of the department’s green planting initiative, was designed for final-year MBA students to promote awareness of sustainable practices.

Dr. Hegde, acclaimed for her research in botany and ecological conservation, highlighted the importance of biodiversity and the crucial role of young professionals in driving environmental change.

A key feature of the session was the launch of Project AMARA, a collaborative initiative between AIMIT students and the Center for Advanced Learning (CFAL). As part of the project, students will:

  • Organize tree plantation drives in urban and semi-urban areas.
  • Partner with local authorities and environmental organizations to ensure sustainability.

Expressing her enthusiasm, Dr. Hegde said, “Collaboration between academia and local organizations is crucial for the success of environmental projects. Project AMARA exemplifies how young minds can drive impactful change.”

The session ended with an engaging Q&A, where students shared ideas and sought guidance on implementing effective green strategies.
