The fourth in the series of webinars by the Department of Information Technology was held on July 2nd, 2020 at 10 a.m. on the topic “Deep Learning and its applications”. The resource person was Dr M. Anand Kumar, Asst. Professor (Grade- I), National Institute of Technology (NITK), Surathkal, Mangalore. His expertise over the domain of Deep Learning and Natural Language Processing made this webinar a very interesting one. It provided an excellent learning opportunity for all the participants.
Dr Anand Kumar, in his presentation, explained the different practical concepts related to Machine Learning, Deep Learning, Artificial Intelligence and Natural Language Processing. He elaborated on the research and the application of these technologies in different domains such as healthcare, autonomous vehicles and more. The webinar was followed by an interactive discussion where queries related to the practical implications of these technologies were addressed.
The session saw a registration of 748 participants from all over the country and people from various backgrounds such as healthcare professionals, doctors, research scholars, postgraduate students and teaching faculty. The session was streamed live on YouTube for the benefit of the participants, and all the participants were given a participation certificate. The fifth webinar was conducted in association with Pantech Solutions, Chennai on the topic of “Applications of Images Processing”. The resource person was Mr Praveen Kumar (BE), senior RD engineer, Pantech Solutions. The webinar was attended by faculty members, students and research scholars from across India working in the domain of Information Technology. Mr Praveen began with a brief introduction and the need for image processing. He later discussed the libraries and real-time applications of image processing in the field of surveillance and medicine. The webinar was followed by an interactive session.
