Office Manager Sylvia Fernandes was accorded a farewell here at AIMIT on Tuesday, October 27. Mrs Fernandes retired after serving the Institutions for 28 years.

The programme began with a Prayer dance and was followed by a PowerPoint presentation of Mrs Sylvia Fernandes.

Speaking on the occasion, Rector Fr Melwin Pinto said that he had heard a lot about Mrs Sylvia and that she had a wonderful reputation. “Mrs Sylvia has left a special mark on the institution. One’s workplace has to become one’s second home and many of you can take Madam Sylvia as your role model,” he said.

Mrs Suchetha from the department of IT who had the opportunity to work with Mrs Sylvia for the longest time shared her experience and commended Mrs Sylvia’s dedicated service of 28 years and also said that she was no less than a friend, mentor, and guide.

Dr (Fr) Praveen Martis SJ, Principal, St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University) said that Mrs Sylvia has seen the growth of St Aloysius Institutions and AIMIT as she has been with the Institute for the past 28 years. “Today is a day that we remember and reciprocate the love shown by Mrs Sylvia and thank her for her dedication, love, and commitment to the Institute,” Fr Martis said.

Mrs Fernandes was felicitated by the dignitaries. Dr Rowena Wright, Dean, MBA, read the citation. Mrs Fernandes in her address to the gathering said that St Aloysius College has given her a great opportunity to grow and also said that the institute had stood by her and taken care of her and her family over the years. She thanked the management and the staff for their support throughout the years.

Director of AIMIT, Dr (Fr) Melwyn Pinto welcomed the gathering. Mr Rakesh Kumar compered the programme. Prayer dance and felicitation song were presented by the staff.
