The first-year students of AIMIT hostels – both gents and ladies hostels – had an orientation programme on January 13. Fr Joy Rodrigues SJ, the hostel director welcomed the first years and wished them well to have a happy stay.
The resource persons for the day were Felix Victor SJ, campus minister, SAC, and Fr Sujay Daniel SJ, campus minister, SAPUC. Fr Felix conducted ice-breaking sessions for the students to know one another.
Fr Sujay spoke about Jesuit education and its importance. “Jesuit education is different from education imparted by others, in that, Jesuit education concentrates on the overall personality development of students,” he said. He also spoke about the important Jesuit values of education, namely: Magis (more), women and men for and with others, unity of heart, mind, and soul, Ad majorem dei gloriam (for the greater glory of God), forming and educating agents of change and finding God in all things.
The students were seen having a fun time during the programme. Mr. Clifford D’Costa and Ms. Shreeraksha, hostel wardens briefed the students about hostel rules and regulations. Students took active part in various games and interacted with their new friends. There are nearly 200 students staying in the hostels.
