The IT Department of AIMIT conducted a workshop on Bioinformatics and its application on June 07 for theunder graduate students from St Aloysius College (Deemed to be University), Mangalore. The resource person was Dr Hemalatha N, Dean (academics), IT.
There were around 100 students who participated from the departments of biochemistry, biotechnology and microbiology. Dr Hemalatha briefed the students about the importance of bioinformatics, particularly in today’s pandemic situation. Further, she explained the scope of bioinformatics and also how the subject is related to others. She also answered queries from the students.
The second half was a practical session where a few bioinformatics applications were executed online for the students to understand the concept better.
