Introduction

AIMIT is home to three vibrant hostels: Loyola for boys, and Mother Teresa and Gonzaga for girls. These hostels are more than just residences—they are dynamic communities that foster learning, personal development, and holistic growth. Equipped with excellent facilities, each hostel provides a nurturing and supportive environment where students can focus on their academics, engage in prayer, rest, and cultivate meaningful relationships with fellow residents. Life in the hostels encourages unity, celebrates diversity, and helps students grow into responsible citizens and well-rounded individuals.

Management

AIMIT hostels warmly welcomed new leadership with the appointment of Dr. (Fr.) Kiran Cotha SJ as our Hostel Director, Fr. Roshan Pereira SJ as the Assistant Hostel Director, and Fr. Avinash D’Souza SJ as the Sub-Warden. In addition, the hostel community is guided by experienced wardens: Dr. Steevan D’Souza, who oversees Loyola Hostel; Sr. Trecilla D’Souza, who leads Mother Teresa Hostel; and Sr. Lizy Thomas, the warden of Gonzaga Hostel.

On this joyous and memorable occasion, we take a moment to express our heartfelt gratitude to two remarkable individuals who have played an instrumental role in shaping the AIMIT hostel community. Our sincere thanks go to the former Director, Dr. (Fr.) Melwyn Pinto SJ, whose visionary leadership and unwavering commitment laid the foundation for fostering a vibrant and supportive environment within the hostels. Equally, we extend our deep appreciation to Fr. Jason Martis SJ, the dedicated sub-warden, whose tireless efforts and compassionate guidance have significantly contributed to the holistic growth and well-being of our hostellers. We are truly indebted to them for their invaluable dedication and unwavering support.

The AIMIT hostels are proud to be home to a diverse and vibrant community of 296 students who bring energy and life to our campus. Among them, 152 are girls residing in the Mother Teresa and Gonzaga hostels, while 144 boys reside in the Loyola hostel. This thriving residential environment not only provides a space for living but also fosters friendships, cultural exchange, and personal growth. The students represent a cross-stitch of backgrounds and aspirations, creating a dynamic atmosphere where they learn, grow, and support one another in their academic and personal journeys.

Hostel council

The AIMIT hostels are efficiently managed by a team of dedicated leaders who work collaboratively to ensure a vibrant and enriching hostel experience for all residents. Under the guidance and support of the hostel management, these leaders take charge of organizing various events, fostering unity, and maintaining a harmonious living environment. At the helm of this leadership team is Rajath C, the overall hostel leader, whose coordination and dedication bring the three hostels together as a cohesive community. Complementing his efforts are the individual hostel leaders, Riya Basil D’Souza, who leads the Gonzaga Hostel with enthusiasm and commitment, and Suramya Rai M, who oversees the Mother Teresa Hostel with equal diligence and care. Together, these leaders play a crucial role in building a supportive and vibrant hostel culture, ensuring that every resident feels valued and engaged in the life of the AIMIT hostels.

Infrastructure

The AIMIT hostels are designed to provide a safe, comfortable, and well-equipped environment that caters to the diverse needs of students. With a focus on convenience and modern amenities, the hostels offer 24×7 Wi-Fi connectivity to ensure uninterrupted academic and personal engagement, along with the added safety of CCTV surveillance. Essential services such as continuous electricity and water supply, solar-powered hot water systems, and water purifiers are in place to enhance the quality of life for residents. The hostels also feature separate, well-equipped gymnasiums for boys and girls, promoting physical fitness as a key aspect of a balanced lifestyle.

For academic support, students have access to incubation facilities and a library, creating spaces conducive to learning and innovation. This year, the hostels have embraced digital transformation by introducing modern systems for admissions, attendance, leave applications, and gate passes, streamlining processes and making them more efficient. Additionally, new washing machines have been installed in all three hostels, making daily life more convenient for residents.

Sports and games are an integral part of hostel life at AIMIT, with ample opportunities for students to engage in recreational and competitive activities. Indoor games like chess, carrom, and table tennis, as well as outdoor sports such as basketball, football, volleyball, throwball, badminton, and cricket, are regularly enjoyed by the students, fostering teamwork and a spirit of healthy competition.

The hostels are also complemented by excellent dining services. Under the leadership of Mr. Roshan D’Souza, the Food Court Manager, and his dedicated team, students are treated to delicious and nutritious meals that cater to their varied tastes and preferences. Together, these facilities and services create a vibrant, supportive, and enriching hostel experience, enabling students to thrive both academically and personally.

Farewell

A heartfelt and memorable farewell was organized to bid adieu to the second-year hostel students, as well as the outgoing College and Hostel Director, Dr. (Fr.) Melwyn Pinto SJ, and Sub-Warden, Fr. Jason Martis SJ. The event was a blend of emotions, with a sense of melancholy filling the air as everyone reflected on the contributions and cherished moments shared with those departing. Despite the bittersweet mood, the juniors infused the evening with vibrancy and joy, putting together a splendid entertainment program that brought smiles and laughter to all. Their performances, filled with energy and creativity, not only showcased their talents but also conveyed their deep respect and gratitude toward their seniors and mentors. The event beautifully captured the essence of togetherness and celebration while honoring the invaluable contributions of those leaving, making it a truly unforgettable occasion.

Orientation

At the beginning of the new academic year, a comprehensive orientation program was organized to welcome and guide the first-year students as they embarked on their journey at AIMIT hostels. The program aimed to familiarize the newcomers with the campus, hostel facilities, and the vibrant community they were joining. It served as an opportunity to introduce them to the values, rules, and expectations of hostel life while offering insights into the academic and extracurricular opportunities available.

AIMIT Chapel

Catholic students residing in the hostels are blessed to have access to a beautiful chapel on campus, which serves as a serene space for spiritual nourishment. The chapel is regularly frequented by students for daily rosary prayers, weekly adoration, and the celebration of Mass on Wednesdays and Sundays, fostering a deep sense of faith and community among them.

The hostels also embrace and celebrate significant religious and cultural occasions with great enthusiasm. The Monthi Feast, a cherished local celebration of the Nativity of Mother Mary, was observed with novena prayers and the traditional offering of flowers, reflecting devotion and unity. Additionally, each hostel honored the feast day of its respective patron—Aloysius Gonzaga, Ignatius Loyola, and Mother Teresa—with a short yet meaningful prayer service followed by the joyful sharing of sweets, strengthening the bond among residents.

This year, in a special effort to celebrate diversity and promote inclusivity, inter-religious prayers and a vibrant program were organized on the occasion of Deepavali. The event highlighted the spirit of harmony and mutual respect, allowing students from all backgrounds to come together and celebrate the festival of lights with joy and understanding.

Christmas Celebration

Students crafted innovative cribs and decorated Christmas trees with passion and artistic flair. The winners of these competitions were recognized and awarded cash prizes during the Christmas program. Adding to the festive spirit, Dr. (Fr.) Kiran Cotha SJ, our director, delivered a meaningful and inspiring Christmas message, reminding everyone of the true essence of the season.

In addition to the festive celebrations, the Hostel Sports Day 2024 added another exciting chapter to the year. The event was inaugurated on November 25th, 2024, by the director, who, in his address, emphasized the importance of sports as a natural medicine to maintain physical and mental well-being. On December 1st, the hostel community came together to celebrate the Sports Day with tremendous energy and enthusiasm. The day began with a grand march past, setting the tone for a series of well-organized sports events. The entire day was filled with camaraderie, competitive spirit, and fun as students demonstrated their athletic abilities while fostering teamwork and sportsmanship. It was a day of celebration and unity, highlighting the vibrant and dynamic life at the AIMIT hostels.
