Shwetha Kumari NS of 2009-2011 batch of MBA visited AIMIT campus on March 14, 2025 and delivered a guest lecture on the topic “Women in the changing world of work”. At present, Shwetha Kumari works as Deputy Manager-CSR at Bangalore International Airport Limited. This lecture was conducted in connection with international women’s day week celebration.

Ms Shwetha Kumari narrated her academic and career journeys and inspired students to perform better in studies. She recollected her college days both as a B Tech student and as an MBA student. Shwetha remembered her days in AIMIT and explained the enthusiasm with which she along with her friends participated in curricular and co-curricular activities. She stressed upon the need for MBA students to involve in academic discussions and deliberations beyond class rooms in their friend circles. Shwetha inspired students saying that passion and purpose attracts resources.

Shwetha emphasised the need for female labour participation. She presented a graphical representation of, growth in female labour participation and the percentage of women who occupy senior management positions. Referring to the issues and challenges connected to female labour participation, she mentioned that equal pay for equal work still remains as a concern. According to her, Flexible policies and work hours can be a good step towards ensuring female labour participation. She concluded the speech with the following words: “empowered women empower the world. Together, we can break barriers and build bridges towards equality”. Jessica Saldanha compered the programme. Swapna from first year MBA proposed vote of thanks. Rajani Suresh, Dean-School of Business and Management welcomed Shwetha Kumari and Dr Justine James, Alumni association coordinator presented a memento to her.
